5 Ways to Make Oatmeal Exciting

Oatmeal is one food that stood the test of time. It’s been a staple of healthy diets and always included in a body builders’ meal plan for years. And despite the gluten-free craze, people are still loving their oats and with good reason!

Oats are a great source of soluble fiber which keeps you full longer and promote gut health and they can reduce your blood pressure and cholesterol.  So here are five ways to enjoy your oats!

  1. In a smoothie –

Blueberry Muffin Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 scoop vanilla About Time protein powder

1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1/2 frozen banana

1/4 cup blueberries

1/4 cup oats

Sprinkle of cinnamon

Ice

Directions:

Add all ingredients to blender and blend.

 

  1. In your pancakes –

Blue & Green Pancakes

1 cup egg whites

1/4 scoop About Time birthday cake whey protein

1/4 cup quick cooking oats

1 cup chopped spinach leaves

1/4 cup blueberries

1/4 cup sugar free maple syrup

Directions:

Mix all but syrup in a bowl.  Turn heat up on frying pan.  Pour onto pan until one side cook, then flip and cook until cooked through.  Top with syrup.

 

  1. Quickly, for breakfast –

Peanut Butter Cup Oatmeal

1/4 cup quick cooking oats

1 scoop chocolate AboutTime protein powder

2 T PB2

Directions:

Mix in a bowl with water and microwave for 1 minute.

 

  1. In your muffins –

Turkey Muffins

Ingredients:

2 lbs 99% FF ground turkey

3 egg whites

1 cup gluten free quick cooking oats

2 celery stalks

1 small onion

2 T garlic powder

2 tsp dry yellow mustard

2 tsp black pepper

2 tsp chipotle pepper spice

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp dried thyme

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Spray muffin pan with canola or olive oil. Mix all your ingredients together in one large bowl.   Roll the mixture into balls and place in muffin pan. Muffins should be about the size of a racquetball. Bake for 40 minutes.  Makes 12 muffins.

 

  • For dessert –

No Bake Cookies

High protein deliciousness.

Ingredients:

2 cup old fashioned oats

1 scoop vanilla or birthday cake About Time protein powder

1/2 cup natural peanut butter

1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/2 tsp vanilla

1/8 tsp sea salt

Directions:

Place ingredients in saucepan and stir, cooking over medium-low heat until everything has melted and combined. Place in fridge for 10-15 minutes to let the batter set, then drop spoonfuls onto parchment paper on baking sheet. Place sheet of cookies in fridge or freezer until cookies set.
