PO Box Billing Address Issues (error address mismatch)
When using a PO Box as the billing address the “Address Verification Service” sometimes runs into errors trying to verify the billing address.
There are a few possibilities for why this error may occur.
- Most banks require a physical address for the cardholder. Even if the bill is actually sent to a PO Box, banks often have a physical address on file for verification purposes.
- The error can almost always be avoided by simply entering the box number first. For example, enter “PO Box 1234” as “1234 PO Box”.
- Some banks simply will not verify PO Boxes. This will happen if the bank keeps the PO Box in a different field from the address and does not have a physical address.
It has been confirmed by some banks that if they have a PO Box on file for the customer, they simply leave the address blank in the verification system.
Our default Address Verification Service settings will only reject transactions where BOTH the Street Address and ZIP code are incorrect.
For possibilities 2 and 3 above, this will not affect ZIP code verification and should not cause declines with our default settings as long as the customer is entering the correct ZIP code.
Why cannot I not login or complete my order?
Most issues arise from browsers, cookies, caching and security settings.
